What We Do
Run Your Outback is a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to inspiring and empowering First Nations Youth across outback Australia through the joy of running.
We travel to remote communities to share the physical, mental, and social benefits of running, creating opportunities for young people to connect with their land and each other in a positive, supportive and fun environment.
Our programs focus on education, inclusivity, fun, and community spirit. We organize and host running events ranging from one to five kilometers, tailored to the abilities and needs of each community.
These events are more than run races—they are celebrations of land, culture, health, and resilience—fostering confidence, teamwork, empowerment, and a lifelong love of movement.
By volunteering our time and resources, Run Your Outback aims to build stronger connections within communities to land, encourage healthier lifestyles, and open pathways for youth to experience achievement and pride through the simple act of running.
Meet Bron and John
With our extensive experience in running and coaching, combined with a strong commitment to education, inspiration, and empowerment, we aim to create a world where every step taken is a meaningful and deeper connection to the land. Bron and John live and play in the vast and beautiful Outback of the Northern Territory. Both are drawn to the relaxed lifestyle and natural environment they love, having made the move in 2020 and since then, both proudly call it their home. Bron has dedicated her entire working career to athletics and events, gaining invaluable experience along the way. John’s background is rooted in coaching and events, where he worked with athletes performing at the highest levels. Eventually, John shifted his focus towards youth development, coaching a spirited team of children aged 5 to 15, fostering their growth and passion for sport.
