21 - 23 August 2026
Kimek (Kungarakan welcome)
The 2026 Run Your Outback Trail Festival was a celebration of running, community, and the spirit of the land. Participants ran, camped, connected and celebrated together across the entire weekend! All profits made from this event go directly back into our Remote Outreach programs to run with, connect and empower First Nations youth in remote Top End communities.
We are extremely grateful for all who ran, walked and cheered - these events are nothing without all of you. We hope you were able to connect with eachother and our country, the lands of the Kungarakan and Warai peoples - and hope we inspired a deeper connection to your own.
The 2027 Trail Festival is LOCKED

Three full loops, TWICE through. Each loop starts and finishes at the main festival area (where you can leave your personal nutrition to re-stock for each loop). 48x hills up to a max 300m in length (cant talk for gradient!). A big day out!
No prior qualification required- however, please ensure you have trained sufficiently to cover this distance in the NT outback. And restock each loop to ensure you can safely navigate the next.
Bigger Outback 28km ~ Sunday

Final event of the KANGA
Loop one = 8.5km ~ Loop two = 9.6km ~ Loop three = 9.9km
Three full loops, one time through. Leave most of your personal nutrition at the Festival area so you can run lighter up the 24x hills- which will do just fine thanks. May not be 56km, but still an epic adventure to create lifetime memories.

It is mandatory for all participants for all events to bring a collapsable cup, flask or drink bottle. There will be on course / finish line fluid available, although no drinking implements will be provided.
These can be purchased at the festival for $8.
For the Friday night nocturnal race and the Biggest Outback 56km, a head torch is also mandatory. This can be discarded in the festival area after the first lap of the 56km event.
Recommended (not required and will not be checked) gear includes: trail shoes, personal nutrition, phone for selfies, a snake bandage, emergency blanket and a whistle.
-
Camping is $18 per camp site for 1x night.
Camp for the 2x nights and its $28 persite.
Bring your swag, tent, car camper, campervan, caravan, RV or just a mat to sleep full under the stars.
Got a ground tent? Use our rocks or bring weights as tent pegs will likely not work in our Outback.
For the full outback experience, this is a wild/free camp. No amenities. Nothing but magical views a short jog from a unique race site. Self-scavenge for wood for communal fires. Create epic memories, take nothing but photos, and leave nothing but many (many) footprints.
Saturday night campfire snagfest is included for all thanks to Woolies Coolalinga.
-
There will be remote water drops out on the course. This remote aid is water only with emergency snake bandages as well as a small trash can and a UHF radio for emergencies.
The main, fully stocked aid station will be at the start/finish/festival area.
The festival aid station will be equipped with adequate first aid, various fluids and tasty treats to keep you going and going - thanks to our awesome mates Woolies Coolalinga and True Protein
-
You can collect your race bib at any time the Bib Collection Station is open, although MUST collect it latest 30 minutes before the start of your race. And yes, you can collect your Sunday bib on Friday or Saturday.
Bib Collection Station Hours:
Friday: 1700 until 1830
Saturday: 0600 until 1030

Yes and Yes.
Race Briefings are mandatory and will be held at the festival/start/finish area 15 minutes before each event is scheduled to start.
Time cut-offs are quite generous, as well as soft - closer to cut-off, discussions will be had to ensure sufficient health to continue. These times are 2hrs for the Friday night 7km, 4 or 5hrs on Saturday, and 10 or 11hrs on Sunday for the 28 and 56km events.
Both the briefings and time cut-offs are imperative for safety and also to get the most fun out of your adventure.
-
Yes. Each event will be timed using world-class timing technology. Results will be available LIVE (if you can find reception) and able to be tracked throughout the longer, lapped events on your device or ours - including a screen with constant rolling results at the start/finish/festival area.
There will be Medals for every finisher and prizes for the top three male and female across the line in each event, as well as the female and male BOOMER ROO and female and male ALPHA DINGO.
KANGA and DINGO results will be progressively updated and available throughout the weekend.
Make sure you stick around for presos as there will also be random spot prizes thanks to our friends at Tarkine!
-
This event is in the Northern Territory Outback. While it takes place in the Dry season, temperatures will be decent and wildlife live and play throughout the land. However, each course is within a relatively small boundary. At any one time, you will never be more than a few kms from the start/finish/festival area. Simply ensure you are in good health and fitness, then challenge yourself to take on any / multiple of the Trail Festival events!
-
Come to run, stay to play!
Music to jive (from speakers), pool to cool off (outback trough style), campfire to get transfixed (also tucker cooker including Saturday night snagfest) and games to avoid awkward conversations about the weather (creatively built and played).
And feel free to bring your (off-road) pushy to spin around a bit on the surrounding “roads” and even race course paths during non-race time.
The more mates you bring, the more festivally the festival becomes - bring them all!

Best friends / dogs are welcome and encouraged on our country.
However, the routes traverse through areas already inhabited with many and varied local flora and fauna. We’d like to protect this as much as possible.
Therefore, we simply ask that dogs are always kept on a leash and keep to the camping and festival areas.
